    PSHE - Boys and girls bodies

    Today was the day in which we learnt the correct anatomical name for parts of our bodies. This lesson addressed the ‘embarrassment factor’ with these words and we helped the children understand these are special and private parts of their bodies which is why we might get a bit embarrassed or giggle when talking about them.

    PE - Swimming

    Year 2 looked at using different floating positions. We began by lifting our feet off the pool floor and then looked at various body positions, such as the pencil float, star float, and mushroom float. The confident swimmers began to see how far across the length of the pool they could float unaided.

    PSHE - Changing Me

    We looked at 5 different stages of life - baby, toddler, child, teenager and adult and discussed how the body changes throughout each stage. We looked at where we are on the continuum from young to old and then had to try and list things we could do independently in each stage.

    Art and Design - Printing

    Printing is a process that allows for the mass reproduction of text and images. It has been around for thousands of years and has evolved into various methods, including digital printing, which is the most common today.. Using the work of Oliver Jeffers as a starting point, we experimented with textures and shapes to create our own prints.

    PE - Swimming

    We are still building our confidence in the water. We played follow the leader today, with the leader having to perform a jump and dip their head underwater. Then we all stood in a large circle to create our own whirlpool and then float into it safely.

    We were lucky enough to have a freestyle Guinness World Record holder with us today. Dan Magness is a UK TV presenter who started out as a football freestyler, performing phenomenal football tricks at events across the world. We had great fun learning some new tricks.

    Our first session in the pool involved entering and exiting the pool safely. We talked about why this is essential so as not to slip. We then played a few follow the leader games to increase our water confidence.

    Computing - Programming

    During this lesson, we recapped what we already knew about the ScratchJr app. We had to identify the start of sequences in real-world scenarios, and then explained that sequences need to be started in ScratchJr. Finally, we had create programs and run them in full-screen mode using the Green flag.

    Pickleball

    Pickleball encourages teamwork, coordination, and confidence. We absolutely loved how the session got everyone moving and catered for all of our abilities with various challenges along the way to extend our skills.
